This weekend I got to see what a Catholic Wedding (without the mass) looks like. My first thought, "this is terrible!" Let me explain: First, the Priest was new to the parish and he had no repor with the bride or groom. Things were his way or the highway. His poor attitude contributed to an un-organized rehearsel/ceremony. I knew that this wedding would be somewhat different from ours since there was no mass, but I thought it would have some similarities at least. I am not sure what kind of Catholic Church this was, but things just were weird. No organization whatsoever. When I think of a wedding, I think of the moment of when the pastor/priest/officient pronounces the couple husband and wife and say you may now kiss the bride...believe it or not, this DID NOT happen! Yeah, I was in complete shock! Isn't this part of a Wedding Ceremony? Kissing the bride? I was so thrown off by this. I immediately started to wonder if this would happen at our ceremony. I asked Anthony, and he said, "don't worry honey, this WILL NOT happen! Fewwww...I was relieved. I couldn't imagine not kissing for the first time as husband and wife during our ceremony. I learned a lot from this experience. This is "OUR DAY!" Not the priests...if something isn't going right, I will speak up and voice my opinion so that our day goes the way we have been planning it for months. We know what's important now and what isn't so important. Anthony and are even more excited about our "Big Day" now. I'm just so thankful this was not "our day!" The bride and groom were very frustrated and that is the last thing that I want to feel on "Our Day!"
